HR analytics, simply put, is the process of collecting and analyzing HR data. This data can then be used to analyze the areas of improvement in the performance of a particular workforce.

  • Time to hire – How long it takes to fill certain positions. This duration of time includes the posting of the job opening and the hiring process of candidates.
  • Recruitment cost to hire – An accumulation of costs surrounding the recruitment and hiring processes of employees. Measured over time to gather data across different recruitment models and candidates.
  • Turnover – The employee turnover rate within the organization. Which employees leave their jobs and after how long. Measured over time and against desired turnover rate goals.
  • Absenteeism – The amount and frequency of days that employees spend away from their positions, measured over time against desirable rates.
  • Engagement rating – A measure of employee efficiency, engagement, satisfaction, and productivity. HR data associated with this metric can be gathered through reviews and surveys.

  • Employee information Reports: They include valuable and general data on all things Employee Data. These include but are not limited to: employee headcounts, turnover rates, diversity, employee engagement, etc.
  • Recruitment Reports: Recruitment reports are one of the most important HR data reports as they provide insights into how beneficial certain hiring tactics are. They can help improve the performance of any HR department.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding Reports: They are a key aspect in improving employee retention and satisfaction rates. They can include the results of any particular survey, interview, or review, related to the onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Performance Management Reports: Performance is an on-going process that presents an enormous amount of data at every step. Measuring and analyzing this data is crucial in improving employee performance and engagement. This analysis can include how often employees meet their objectives, alongside appraisals and feedback meetings.

There are three central schools of thought when it comes to HR data analysis.

  • Descriptive Analytics, which has a central focus on the comprehension of historical data in order to identify areas of improvement.
  • Predictive Analytics, which utilizes statistics, to analyze historical data, to be used in risk and opportunity forecasts.
  • Prescriptive Analytics, which builds on Predictive Analysis by taking the results of its predecessors forecasts and identifying their consequences.
